CPA Software Reviews is an editorial publication for accounting professionals. We rank and review the software, hosting providers, and AI tools that tax and accounting firms rely on, so managing partners can make buying decisions without wading through vendor marketing.
Everything we publish follows the same rules. Every product gets genuine pros and cons. Scores follow the published methodology on our How We Review page. Claims are based on public information, and when something cannot be verified we say so or leave it out.
We cover one niche deliberately. General review sites spread thin across every industry; we only write about tools for accounting firms, because depth beats breadth when your busy season depends on the choice.
Who writes this site
Dale Hoffman, Founder and Editor. Dale built and ran a mid-sized CPA firm before selling it. He now spends his time on the two things he never stopped caring about: accounting and the technology that makes firms run better.
Running a firm meant living with these decisions, not just writing about them. Picking tax software, moving desktops to hosted servers, sitting through vendor pitches, and paying for the mistakes when a choice went wrong. That experience shapes every review here. The question is never which product has the longest feature list. It is which product a working firm can depend on in March.
After selling the firm, writing about this space full time was the natural next step. No vendor tells us what to publish, and no ranking position is for sale.
