The best TaxWise hosting provider for most offices in 2026 is Ace Cloud, because it publicly supports TaxWise Desktop and prices per seat for lean, seasonal operations. Verito is the stronger pick for a busy multi-preparer office that wants its own dedicated server. The biggest name in accounting hosting, Rightworks, does not list TaxWise among the applications it publishes, which changes the usual order of this category.
TaxWise, from Wolters Kluwer, serves a different crowd than Lacerte or UltraTax. Its buyers are high-volume and retail tax offices, multi-office operations, and service bureaus that white-label the software for their own sub-offices. Many staff up with seasonal preparers for a few months, keep long evening and weekend hours, and care a great deal about cost per return. Wolters Kluwer also sells TaxWise Online, and every Online package now includes TaxWise Desktop, so hosting is the path for offices that want to keep working in Desktop while reaching it from several locations. We scored providers on confirmed TaxWise support, how well pricing flexes with a seasonal headcount, support hours, and server model. Here is how they stack up.
Best overall for high-volume and seasonal TaxWise offices
Best for multi-preparer offices that want dedicated performance
Best for firms that run TaxWise beside a broad Rightworks stack
Best white-glove option, rarely the right fit for a TaxWise office
Best managed IT option, if TaxWise support is confirmed
1. Best overall for high-volume and seasonal TaxWise offices
Published TaxWise Desktop support, per-user pricing that flexes with a seasonal crew, and support that answers at any hour make Ace Cloud the natural fit for TaxWise's audience.
TaxWise offices run on thin margins, add bodies for a few months a year, and keep hours that do not match a normal support desk. Ace Cloud lines up with all three. It publishes TaxWise hosting plans, hosts TaxWise Desktop packages directly, bills per user so a seasonal crew can be added and dropped, and staffs support around the clock. A seven-day free trial with no credit card also lets an office test a TaxWise session from a storefront location before committing.
The trade-offs are the usual budget-host ones. Standard plans share servers, and the early-season refund rush, when high-volume offices are busiest, is exactly when shared capacity gets tested. Dedicated servers are available at a higher price. Read the quote line by line for add-ons. For the typical TaxWise office, confirmed support and pricing that flexes with the season outweigh those concerns, which is why Ace Cloud tops this list even though it sits lower in our rankings for premium desktop suites.
2. Best for multi-preparer offices that want dedicated performance
Dedicated private servers keep a busy TaxWise office steady in peak weeks, though flat pricing fits a year-round firm better than a seasonal one.
Verito lists TaxWise among the applications it hosts and puts every firm on its own dedicated server. For a larger TaxWise office with many preparers working at once in peak weeks, that isolation keeps returns opening and transmitting at a steady pace regardless of what other customers are doing. Support comes from people who work only in tax and accounting software.
It ranks second here, not first, because of how TaxWise offices staff. Flat pricing for a dedicated server is a strength for a firm with the same team all year, but less of one for an office that swells with seasonal preparers and then shrinks back. A multi-preparer TaxWise office that stays busy beyond April and values consistent speed over the lowest possible seasonal cost will find Verito the stronger performer.
3. Best for firms that run TaxWise beside a broad Rightworks stack
The largest host in the category, but TaxWise is not on its published application list, so it is only a fit if it will take TaxWise on for you.
Rightworks, formerly Right Networks, ranks near the top of most of our hosting lists. Here it drops, for one specific reason. Its published tax hosting list covers the CCH, Thomson Reuters, Intuit, and Drake products, but not TaxWise. It does invite firms to ask about applications that are not listed, so hosting TaxWise may be possible, but a TaxWise office would be an exception rather than a customer the service is built around.
Where Rightworks makes sense is a firm that already hosts QuickBooks Desktop and other tools there and wants TaxWise in the same place. For an office that runs mainly on TaxWise, a host that publishes TaxWise support is the safer choice.
4. Best white-glove option, rarely the right fit for a TaxWise office
Excellent managed IT for CPA firms, but its published focus is CCH Axcess and ProSystem fx, and the engagement is heavier than most TaxWise offices want.
Cetrom is a high-quality host, and its placement here is about fit. It sells a full managed IT relationship to CPA firms, and its Wolters Kluwer work centers on the premium CCH products. The typical TaxWise office is a high-volume, seasonal operation that wants low cost per seat and fast setup, which is close to the opposite of a premium, custom-quoted, white-glove engagement. Core hosting is priced separately from add-ons like hosted email and file services, so the total climbs as you add services. Ask in writing which support is included in the monthly fee and which is billed by the hour or by project.
A larger accounting firm that runs TaxWise for a retail tax division alongside other applications could reasonably ask Cetrom to manage all of it. For a TaxWise-first office, the hosts higher on this list match the business better.
5. Best managed IT option, if TaxWise support is confirmed
Managed cloud and security with support at any hour, but TaxWise is not named in its published materials and quote-only pricing cuts against a cost-per-return office.
Netgain's CPA Cloud Essentials platform, built on Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop, bundles hosting with managed security and support that runs around the clock. Those hours line up well with a retail tax office's long season, and the security coverage goes beyond a basic hosting plan.
The fit problems are real, though. Netgain's published CPA pages name CCH Axcess, UltraTax CS, and QuickBooks, but not TaxWise, and pricing comes only by quote, which is hard for a cost-per-return buyer to compare. Costs on an Azure-based platform can also scale quickly as users, storage, and computing power grow, so get in writing how the quote changes when you add users, storage, or more powerful sessions for tax season. Netgain splits its focus across accounting, healthcare, and legal as well. A larger firm that wants managed IT across several applications, including a TaxWise division, should ask Netgain to confirm TaxWise Desktop support in writing. For a TaxWise-first office, the hosts higher on this list are easier to buy.
| Ace Cloud | Verito | Rightworks | Cetrom | Netgain | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| TaxWise in published app list | Yes, with TaxWise-specific plans | Yes | Not listed, ask | Not listed, ask | Not named, ask |

| Best TaxWise fit | Seasonal and high-volume offices | Busy multi-preparer offices open year-round | Firms already hosting other apps there | Larger firms with a TaxWise division | Firms wanting managed IT and security together |
Not always. TaxWise Online runs in a browser and needs no hosting at all, and Wolters Kluwer now includes TaxWise Desktop with every Online package. Hosting is for offices that prefer to work in TaxWise Desktop but want it reachable from several locations or from home, with the data kept on one backed-up server instead of scattered across office computers.
TaxWise is not on the tax application list Rightworks publishes, which covers CCH, Thomson Reuters, Intuit, and Drake products. Rightworks invites firms to ask about unlisted applications, so it may be possible, but you should get written confirmation before planning a move.
Look at how pricing behaves when your headcount changes. Per-user shared plans let you add seasonal preparers for the busy months and remove them afterward. Flat pricing on a dedicated server is more predictable but assumes a steadier team. Ask each provider how quickly you can add and drop users, and get an itemized quote that shows add-ons. With custom-quote managed hosts such as Cetrom and Netgain, also ask which services and support the base fee includes, which are billed separately, and how the price changes as you add users, storage, or services.
Yes. Hosting puts TaxWise Desktop and its data on one server, so preparers in different storefronts can log in from any location. Service bureaus that manage sub-offices should also check how the host fits with Wolters Kluwer's own multi-office tools before deciding on the setup.
Usually, but test it. High-volume offices print a lot, and some print checks or client copies at the counter. Before busy season, confirm that your office printers work reliably through the hosted session at every location.
Hosting can help, but it does not replace your own written security plan. Look for multi-factor login, encrypted connections and storage, daily backups, and a SOC 2 report the provider will actually show you. The FTC Safeguards Rule and IRS Publication 4557 make your office responsible for vetting the host, including when you work with seasonal staff.
